DF1, the newly launched commercial channel operated by DF1 Medien, has secured free-to-air rights to motorcycling's MotoGP World Championship in Germany through a sub-licensing agreement with Servus TV.

The long-term deal sees FTA coverage return for the series in a key market after ServusTV Deutschland, the Red Bull Media House-owned commercial channel, shut down at the end of 2023.

DF1 officially launched on January 1 as a replacement and airs sports content previously shown by ServusTV in Germany.

As well as MotoGP, DF1 will air the second and third-tier Moto2 and Moto3 series until 2026.

Last November, Sky Deutschland secured long-term live pay-TV rights to MotoGP in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland from the 2024 season onwards.

DF1 will show 12 races live this season, starting with the Grand Prix of Portugal on March 24.

The German Grand Prix at Sachsenring will take place on July 7.

MotoGP races will also be streamed in Germany on df1.de, as well as on the Red Bull TV (app and web) and ServusTV On platforms.

DF1 recently acquired free-to-air rights to Formula E, the all-electric motor racing series for the 2024 season.

The commercial channel has also taken on several sports rights from ServusTV since the turn of the year, including the DEL ice hockey league.

Red Bull closed down the ServusTV linear channel in Germany to focus on the ServusTV On streaming service in the country.
